Not sure there will ever be a good time to buy Neymar cards from an investment point of view. There’s probably not another player in the world that has such a huge gulf of difference between their talent, production rate, desire to win & investment potential. One of the best talents of the modern generation. What he can do on the field with a ball at his feet is absolutely incredible. His production rate has gotten fallen every year since his big money move to PSG. He only went there for the money and it shows. His desire to win is questionable at best. His attitude is that of a spoiled brat and he’s more interested in flopping than making a great play. Because of all the things I have mentioned, his investment potential is pretty abysmal. Unfortunately, the current soccer card market is driven by American buyers and most every soccer fan I know here generally hates him. On occasion, he provides us with an “Oh, wow!” moment but every other moment is usually a “What an a–hole!” sentiment. I really don’t know how he can ever redeem himself outside of shining in the 2022 World Cup. But the hate for him originates from the 2018 World Cup when he made a fool of himself diving & crying at every opportunity.
Yeah, I think you’re right on this actually, at least for the short term. He seems to be “out of favor” with just about everyone right now, but the name recognition holds strong, and if he ever gets out of his own head and starts performing up to his natural talents, I think his card prices could skyrocket. It’s a big “if” and I understand it’s unlikely and a huge risk.
@Sports Card Strategy He said something in a recent interview about going to the MLS towards the end of his career (which may be quickly approaching). That would/could be a really big boost for interest in his cards. 🤔🤓⚽
@Southern Soccer Idiot Very interesting. I did see that somewhere too. You think this would increase his card value due to the attention it would garner?
@Sports Card Strategy If American buyers and collectors are still dominating the market, I could definitely see the hype train bringing a few bucks to people holding some of his better cards
@Southern Soccer Idiot This will be interesting to see!
